At St Bede’s College in south Manchester, which is the biggest Catholic independent school in Britain, the school gained its 1,000th A/A* GCSE in religious studies.
Emma Meakin, head of theology, said: “We are delighted with this year’s results once again which reflect the tremendous amount of hard work that the students and staff have put into preparing for the exam.”
