The picture shows participants in last autumn’s inaugural Ratcliffe College Football Festival for local Catholic primary schools.

Six schools participated in a truly wonderful festival, where all the boys and girls enjoyed a busy schedule of games.

The standard of play was very high and parents and staff thoroughly enjoyed watching the games played in the backdrop of our beautiful grounds, on pitches that can only be described as magnificent.

St Mary’s Catholic primary school won the morning league and had a by into the semi-finals. In the knockout stages St Mary’s and Sacred Heart reached the final and St Mary’s finally won after extra time.

All players showed it is possible to lose gracefully and win modestly. The primary schools represented included Sacred Heart, St Mary’s, Blessed Robert Widmerpool, Christ the King and St Patrick’s.
