The Good Shepherd School in Arnold, Nottingham, hosted 150 children for a sleepover to raise money for the homeless on February 11.

The children gathered in school in the late afternoon and brought a cardboard box to sleep on, a pillow and a sleeping bag. Supper was served at the soup kitchen.

The children watched a film which they enjoyed and they prayed for the homeless in their liturgy. Margaret Williams, who was at the sleepover, said: “We spread out our boxes ready to experience a taste of homelessness by sleeping on the floor of the school hall.

“By torchlight, with a lot of fun and laughter the children of all ages slowly fell asleep and by 11pm the only sounds that could be heard were those of the children sleeping soundly.

“It was a great night where the school community pulled together to raise £1,500 for this worthwhile cause.”
