The heads of Religious Education from secondary schools in Shrewsbury diocese met for their termly conference on March 16.

The members attending the conference convened in the parish hall at St Columba’s in Chester to discuss current issues such as Celebrating RE Month – a national initiative from the RE Council for England and Wales – the Year of Catholic Education, the Marian Year in Shrewsbury diocese and Section 48 inspection procedures.

In the afternoon the group welcomed Jo Boyce of CJM music who gave an informative presentation on the new Missal soon to be introduced. Miss Boyce guided those assembled through the historical background to the Missal and highlighted what the changes were going to be and why. She did this with her usual flair and talent.

Pat Barker, assistant director of schools for the diocese, gave Ms Boyce flowers in gratitude for the role she played in a busy conference.

I think that the students needs proper guidance in every field or course, then only they can prosper. The institutes, colleges & universities should teach the things so that there did not have to go somewhere else to learn all this.
