St Benedict’s School, Ealing, officially opened the Andre Abramian Memorial pitch on Thursday March 10 at the school playing fields in Perivale.

The new games area has been named after Andre Abramian, a former pupil who died of cancer on October 29 2010. After a blessing ceremony performed by Abbot Martin Shipperlee Andre’s parents, Armand and Aline, and his sister Tamar unveiled the memorial plaque to officially open the pitch.

Director of sport Nick Guise has seen a dream come true. “These are wonderful facilities which will allow us to maintain our high standards while diversifying the sporting opportunities provided at St Benedict’s,” he said.

“We aim to maximise the athletic potential of boys and girls and my mission is to strive and make St Benedict’s the best sports school not just in London, but in Britain.”
