Ratcliffe College wins final at Loughborough Rugby club

Ratcliffe College’s 1st rugby team has recently won the County Plate competition, held at Loughborough Rugby club on Tuesday April 5.

They played against Leicester Grammar 2nd team in the final of the U18 County Plate competition at Loughborough Rugby Club. Despite not being at their best in the first half, Ratcliffe battled to a 12-10 half-time lead with tries from Tom Allen and Simon Gray and a touchline conversion from the captain, Sven Moss. A good second-half performance with Number Eight Ciaran Sheehy leading the way saw Ratcliffe extend their lead to 22-10 with a converted try by Alex Rankine and a penalty kick from Sven Moss.

Despite excellent defence, particularly from Adam Brandish, Ratcliffe could not prevent Leicester from pulling a try back but this proved to be the last play of the game and Ratcliffe won 22-17.
