Archbishop Smith presents Benemerenti medals

On Friday June 10, on his first anniversary of becoming Archbishop of Southwark, Archbishop Peter Smith, visited the parish of English Martyrs, Walworth, London.

The archbishop presided at the Friday morning Mass for the parish and the school.
At the end of the Mass he presented Benemerenti medals to four people – Ron Bursey, Pat Bursey, Eileen Griffin and David Dwane – for their long service to the church and the parish.

After the Mass he met the people of the parish in the school hall for tea and coffee.
He then went on to visit the English Martyrs School and blessed the new reception class.
