Lay Chaplain
Required as soon as possible
Salary range - full time equivalent = £20,627 - £25,898 of the Medway Scheme, subject to qualifications and experience.
The Governors seek to appoint a Lay Chaplain as soon as possible. He/She will be required to work term time, plus staff development days (39 weeks). The hours of work will be from 8.40 a.m. - 3.30 p.m. 4 days a week.
The purpose of this role is to support and develop the school community - pupils, staff and parents - by helping to meet their needs particularly in areas of preparation of Liturgy, involvement in spiritual exercises and acting as part-time lay Chaplain. It is expected that this key role will be 'hands on' with a strong practical vocation. Close liaison with the Headteacher and the Faculty Leader of Religious Education will be important.
The successful candidate should be a committed and practising Catholic who possesses a lively faith based on sound doctrine. He/She should have a presence which inspires confidence, have the ability to motivate others, have sound judgement and integrity. Be able to develop and maintain good working relationships with all members of the school community, work under pressure, have good health, stamina, resilience and a sense of humour.
Annual leave entitlement will be 22 days and after 5 years continuous local government service increase to 27 days. All holidays are to be taken in school closure time.
