Pope Francis asked Our Lady to “awaken in us a renewed desire for holiness” as he prayed at the Column of the Immaculate Conception in Rome yesterday (full video).

The Immaculate Conception is “the fruit of God’s love which saves the world”, Francis said at yesterday’s Angelus (full video).

Catholics must use the internet to help people who are “often hurting or lost”, the Pope told members of the Pontifical Council for the Laity on Saturday.

The Focolare Movement requested the opening of the Cause of founder Chiara Lubich on Saturday, five years after her death (report in Italian).

FoxNews.com news editor Adam Shaw will no longer write for the Catholic News Service after he published a “caustic condemnation” of Pope Francis’s apostolic exhortation.

Michael Novak says he was “at first amazed at how partisan” parts of Evangelii Gaudium seemed to be.

And Fr Dwight Longenecker explains why Pope Francis’s Council of Cardinals is like Tolkien‘s Fellowship of the Ring.
