Nearly 50,000 baptised in China in just a year
The Catholic church in China registered 48,556 baptisms in 2017, according to Fides, the news agency of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples. The northern province of Hebei, near Beijing, topped the list with 11,899, the report said, while the Archdiocese of Beijing registered 1,099 and Tibet had just 11.
