This speech is dangerous because it encourages complacency. It suggests that there is no need to worry about such matters as global over-population because it is all in God’s hands. Indeed, the Catholic Church is encouraging large families, even in the Philippines, with little apparent concern for the consequences. How hypocritical to have professed concern for the starving in the Horn of Africa, yet contribute towards greater famine.
