Oh, you're a theology graduate and a chaplain; I presume that means you think you know what you're talking about? Well, I have a doctorate from a Pontifical University and am a also monsignor. I think I've made my point.

As for your argument: you say that many clergy in the High Church are gay and then state that lots of (presumably doctrinally defficient) cradle Catholics would leave if these "anti-gays" joined their parishes. Surely even you see the contradiction. Learn to think things through, Mr Kenny - and be pastorally sensitive towards those people who are in your chaplaincy.

Mr Kenny, The arrogance of your statement regarding the doctrinal soundness of the Catholic laity is astounding. What about Affirming Catholicism, or Anglo Catholics who aren't affiliated to either group? I for one don't want these prejudiced Forward in Faith fanatics to join the Catholic Church. Why don't they just go off and form their own church instead?

Who says that Forward in Faith is the largest Anglo Catholic group? Only those who are against women's ordination AS WELL as being against the gays will move.... which isn't that many?
Another thing, British Catholics are not doctrinally Catholic.... (I say this as a theology graduate who is now a chaplain....) It would not surprise me if many cradle Catholics left the Church if large numbers of anti-women - anti-gays joined their parishes..... which is why keeping them separate is the best plan? The Catholic Bishops know their biggest danger is pushing away liberal cradle Catholics who form the majority of the practising Catholic community.

The High Church movement has a lot of gay priests and laity – as well as straight people who do not view homosexuality as being inherently disordered…. which makes me think that a mass conversion to Rome is highly unlikely.
