Benedict XVI celebrated Mass in the presence of more than a million young people on the outskirts of Madrid this morning.
At the Mass, which took place at Cuatro Vientos airfield, the Pope told the congregation that they had “been given the extraordinary task of being disciples and missionaries of Christ”.
Looking tired on the final day of his four-day trip to Spain, he asked young pilgrims to pray for him.
An estimated 1.4 million people attended a vigil with the Pope last night. The event was interrupted briefly by a fierce gale.
