Diego Neria Lejárraga wrote to Francis after being rejected by his parish, according to Spanish paper
Pope Francis has held a private audience with a transgender man, according to reports in Spanish newspaper.
Hoy reported that Diego Neria Lejárraga wrote a letter to the Pope in December about being rejected by his parish in Spain and being called “the devil’s daughter” by a priest. He said he subsequently received a phone call from the Pontiff on Christmas Eve.
Mr Lejárraga and his fiancee told the paper that they met Pope Francis in his residence at the Vatican on Saturday. “After hearing him on many occasions, I felt that he would listen to me,” he said.
The Vatican have not commented on the reported meeting.
