Pia Wurtzbach gave clothes, shoes and dresses to the Catholic charity
The reigning Miss Universe has contributed luxury gifts to a sale in aid of Caritas Manila.
Pia Wurtzbach, who became the third Filipino to receive the title in 2015, donated bags, shoes and dresses to the Celebrity and Friends Pre-loved Luxury Brands Sale, reports UCAN.
All proceeds from the event will go towards Caritas Manila’s work with the poor throughout the city.
On Monday, Wurtzbach paid a courtesy call to Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle at his home to hand over her donations in person.
Cardinal Tagle thanked Wurtzbach for donating to the sale. He gave Wurtzbach the rosary that was presented to him by Pope Francis to express his gratitude.
“We are here for one purpose and that is to serve our brothers and sisters with no other motivation but love,” he said.
After meeting with the Cardinal, the beauty queen called on others to “share their blessings” this Christmas.
UCAN reported that Wurtzbach said: “Let’s share with one another. Let us give without expecting anything in return.”
Wurtzbach also revealed that she intends to work with the Catholic charity after her reign as Miss Universe.
Many of the donated items were made by designer brands including Chanel, Prada and Louis Vuitton.
Caritas Manila is looking to raise approximately £31,500 ($40,000) from the event for a youth education programme.
