As a registered charity our priority is to provide companionship, support and accommodation for elderly people. Abbeyfield believes that, given the right environment, elderly people can live in contentment and serenity retaining their dignity and the respect of all those who support them. We provide the independent resident with security, support and companionship.
This role will provide pastoral, spiritual and religious support to Abbeyfield staff and provide chaplaincy to all Abbeyfield houses and homes within the West Division. The Chaplain will primarily be directed to the employed staff of Abbeyfield houses, and only where necessary or requested to volunteers, trustees and residents.
The postholder must be a recognised and authorised ministry, ordained or lay, within a church which is in communion with Churches Together in Britain and Ireland. They should also have evidence of work already undertaken in a Care setting, be able to demonstrate leadership skills, to listen carefully and with insight, and work on their own initiative without detailed supervision.
This is a brand new, exciting and pioneering post, supporting areas south of Birmingham, down to Falmouth in Cornwall and eastwards to Hants and the Isle of Wight.
The postholder will attend meetings when appropriate and to be available for one to one sessions. They will ensure that all work undertaken adheres to the brand values and guidelines of the charity. They must maintain confidentiality at all times and be aware of and comply with safe working practices as laid down by the Health and safety at Work Act.

The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) is keen to recruit a Personal Secretary to the Chief Executive based at its London HQ.
The post is part-time (15-25 hours per week, negotiable). Salary details available on request.

The role
Applicants must have an absolute commitment to the pro-life cause, a minimum of 3 years’ experience working at director/board level and be able to cope with a wide range of secretarial responsibilities.

Duties will include drafting letters, taking dictation, maintaining a filing system, assisting in making travel arrangements, photocopying and printing.
Advanced word-processing and shorthand skills essential.
You must enjoy working under pressure and have excellent communication and organisational skills.
